Job Description

The Senior Copywriter is a key member in the creative department, entrusted with delivering groundbreaking thinking to inspire the studio’s creative work. As a senior copywriter in the Tokyo studio you will work with the rest of the creative team to create innovative concepts and develop an idea through to the final copy stage. You will understand the client’s tone-of-voice and to write compelling, on-brand copy.

Responsibilities

  • Writes compelling, beautifully constructed copy in Japanese for a variety of clients and audiences.
  • Able to respond positively to feedback from clients and re-draft copy (while retaining its impact) to meet their comments.
  • Quality is never compromised while delivering multiple projects.
  • Able to write scripts for film, animation or moving image content or concepts, and work with designers to produce clear storyboards that communicate an idea. 
  • Able to craft voiceover scripts that are fluid, natural.
  • Listens and responds to a brief, understanding where/if there are gaps; knows what questions to ask during the briefing session in order to act upon it, and understands how to respond to a brief.
  • Able to digest content provided by client, Client Services, other agencies, or from own research and understand how it should be broken down to meet a brief and how best to organize it.
  • Plays an active role in brainstorming or idea generation with senior members of Creative team to conceptualize world-class, innovative ideas that deliver successful solutions.
  • Clearly communicates ideas and thoughts.
  • Presentation skills - present and explain copy work to other team members, colleagues or clients. Contribute to and deliver considered, concise and relevant presentations that meet the Company's standards to colleagues and clients.
  • Multi-tasking - the ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously ensuring delivery of all to the highest standards.

  • You are passionate, driven and obsessed about your craft and stay on top of best practice in your field.
  • Natural curiosity that allows you to find inspiration in anything and everything, with an especially keen eye on the future of media and technology.
  • Strong industry experience.
  • Relevant tertiary education.
